Declan Murphy Joins Family Menswear Business In Newcastle West

Declan has been head buyer for David James, one of Australia's biggest menswear stores for the past 5 years.

“Declan is doing a terrific job as buyer for David James in Australia, and I look forward to his contributions as a member of our family business here in Newcastle West,” said his father, Michael Murphy. “Like any progressive business, we are very focused on innovation and I think Declan's insights and experience will be very valuable in helping to guide Murphy's Menswear to continued success into another generation in the years ahead.”

“Murphy's Menswear is one of the oldest established companies in Co. Limerick and I'm really looking forward to taking over the helm from my father and help expand the business further in the years to come," said Declan Murphy speaking from Australia.

Declan joined David James in 2002 where he shares responsibility for the companies day-to-day operations in their menswear department. He is focused on building and maintaining the company's growth in their shirt and suit departments which are the biggest in Australia.

Declan's many years of experience in the rag trade, give him a well-seasoned perspective which he plans to introduce to his family business.

The Newcastle West Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the new appointment and hailed it as "an exciting continuation of a traditional local business"
